International Rugby

comes to St James

Over the last two terms, St James has played host to a wonderful selection of Rugby opportunities; after-school club run by Godalming College student & Lions Rugby coach, Ben; intra -school Six Nations Rugby Championship with new shield to play for;  and Girls rugby coaching from 2 international & premier league players.

Our inaugural Six Nations Championship saw 6 sports crew members drawing their International Team names before leading their team into the league competition. 42 children all signed up to play and close competition played out on the pitch - overall joint winners England and Wales raised the winners shield.

Last week, St James were excited to be visited by Australian International & Harlequins players Chloe Butler and England International & Wasps player Katie Mason for a "Girls Try Rugby Session".  The senior KS2 girls enjoyed the coaching, skills, drills and games as an introduction to the game - the girls had a great time!

GIVE RUGBY A TRY festival is on 30th June at Guildford Rugby Club, Godalming and it is a chance for all girls new to rugby to try out and have fun! Make new friends, get active, learn new skills and build confidence!
