The transformation of our rather straggly willow hedge, that separates our growing area from the playground, was started on Saturday by Penguin dads Will and Mark.  They used the ancient skill of hedge-laying to give new life to the hedge.  This involves cutting partway through the lower trunks of the willow, laying them down then adding in stays for support and weaving in further support.  This technique revitalises hedges and encourages new growth at ground level to provide a robust and stock proof (or in our case, child proof) hedge. 

We are looking forward to seeing the new shoots fill in the gaps and want to thank Mark and Will for giving up their Saturday.
